Mexico City is an ancient city with a staggering population of around 9 million living within the capital that lies in the Anahuac Valley with a couple of snow-capped volcanoes looking down to the city.

  • Teotihuacán ruins that lie outside of the capital city will give you a fascinating insight into the history of the Aztecs.
  • Historic Center (also known as Zócalo) is a must for any first time visitor to Mexico City as the historical centre boasts the former ceremonial centre of the Aztecs, The Metropolitan Cathedral, Palacio de Bellas Artes, many little boutique shops that specialise in local handicrafts to artisanal chocolate and the National Palace to see one of Diego Rivera most impressive murals that depicts Mexican history. For those interested in James Bond you may also recognise a few of the places from the opening scenes of Spectre.
  • Xochimilco- a fun activity for the family or a group of friends is to take to the canals on the colourfully painted boats. Whilst meandering down the canals you can munch into local delicacies, have a drink and be entertained by the mariachi who will sing a song for a tip.
  • Frida Kahlo house in the south of the city is a must visit for those interested in the life and artwork of this iconic lady.
