Colonia

Colonia is a charming UNESCO World Heritage City with many reminders of its Portuguese settlement historical past.
The winding cobbled streets of Colonia are studded with ancient houses dating back to the 1600's. There are ten odd little museums dotted around the city, each worth the time to wander in and have a look.

What can you do in Colonia?

Colonia is a quiet paced traditional town that is perfect to enjoy the local culture and soak up the atmosphere. If you are looking to get out of the town then nearby are some estancias and wineries that we can arrange visits to. You may also decide to rent a car and go exploring the vast open plains of Uruguay for a more in depth rural experience.

How do you get to Colonia?

From the capital of Montevideo it is a 2 hour drive to Colonia. If you are combining your holiday in Uruguay with some time in Buenos Aires then you can catch the tourist ferry across to Buenos Aires in just over an hour.
