This laid-back and hip coastal location is our favourite beach destination in Brazil. Friendly locals, mile upon mile of golden sands and a great buzz around the main square in the evenings make this a joyful and superb part of Brazil.
Things to do - Trancoso
In Trancoso town there is a sweet, squat little 17th century whitewashed church, a cluster of stylish little bars, some delicious seafood restaurants and miles upon miles of beach. For those looking for a little more activity than surfing, then stand up paddle boarding and various day trips are available. This stretch of Brazil is known as the 'Bahia Coast', and considered the most wild and glamorous stretch of this vast country, with an impressive 1,000 mile coastline.
Trancoso - Where to Stay
There are several boutique hotels in the area, including the uber-stylish and centrally located UXUA , owned by former creative designer of Diesel (Wilbert Das). The charming beach front property of Pousada Tutabel is one of our favourites. For foodies looking for some barefoot luxury then the Relais Chateaux Txai Resort is another superb choice. Trancoso - Our Opinion
Trancosco is our favourite beach village in Brazil. For relaxation, delicious food and a chilled out beach break, Trancoso is perfect in every way. It works wonderfully for a few days of relaxation after a touring itinerary, or as a Christmas retreat away from the winter.
Trancoso - Top Tip
While here, we suggest that you try a dish known locally as 'moqueca'; a fish dish with lots of creamy coconut milk. It's delicious.
