A larger and one of the more economical hotel with views out over Puerto Varas and Lake Llanquihue. Hotel Cabano del Lago is a good base whilst exploring the Lake District of Chile.
This relatively large hotel for the area has a feeling of an alpine chalet, but much larger. We put this down to the decor and the location that has great views. Being located close to the main town you can walk out to the restaurants, shops and bars without having to jump in a taxi – a big plus.
The hotel has lots of relaxing communal areas and a large patio where they frequently fire up the BBQ, a sauna, a gym and a great bar where there is a cosy roaring fire.
There are157 rooms in all shapes and sizes. Around half of the rooms are a little more traditional in decor with lots of dark varnished woods and furnishings. There are some more contemporary rooms that are slightly brighter with more recent appliances. Nevertheless, the rooms are all fairly similar add have everything you would expect and need from such a hotel.
Due to the nature of the area it is likely that days will be spent exploring by cycle bike, trekking or boat trips. Retreating to this comfortable hotel after a day’s exploration is a great feeling.
