Wide, tree-lined streets, and crisp, Andean air and leafy plazas all come second to Mendoza's piece de la resistance... wine.
Mile upon mile of vineyards surround the city of Mendoza. This region provides perfect conditions for the vines to thrive, and produces over 75% of the wine exported from Argentina. A trip - or three - to one of the many wineries located in this region is a memorable experience.

Spending time in Mendoza

If you have really had enough of thinking, tasting and talking about wine, then you could try a little light trekking or quiet exploring of the local area. There is truly beautiful scenery here, and certain roads provide a glimpse of South America's highest peak, the mighty Acongagua.

Our opinion

Central Mendoza has some lovely restaurants, and sipping a local bottle is obligatory - and surprisingly economical.

Where to stay

Most people come here for the scenery and wine so we recommend throwing yourself into both with a stay at one of the wineries located on the outskirts of the town.
